2017 Subaru Impreza vs 2017 Toyota Corolla

Both Subaru and Toyota make long lasting vehicles that have a lot to offer. However, the Subaru Impreza has more to offer drivers in the Costa Mesa area than the Toyota Corolla does.

Power & Performance

Another area that the Subaru Impreza beats the Toyota Corolla is in engine power and efficiency. Powering the Impreza is a 2.0-liter engine that delivers 152 horsepower for a peppy and spiritful driving experience. The Corolla's engine only puts out 132 horsepower from its 1.8-liter four cylinder engine. The Subaru Impreza also gets a better fuel economy rating than the Toyota Corolla. The Impreza gets 28 city/ 38 highway MPG while the Corolla gets 28 city/ 36 highway MPG. The Impreza also comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and all-wheel drive on the Corolla cost extra. The Impreza's all-wheel drive system continuously  supplies power to all four wheels to provide you with outstanding traction in all weather conditions and terrain.

Interior Space

Most of the time you are in your car by yourself. But when you do have a full car you want a vehicle that is comfortable for all of your passengers. And has enough cargo space for everything you need to bring. Again the Subaru Impreza outshines the Toyota Corolla. The Impreza comes in two body styles, a 4-door sedan, and a 5-door hatchback. The Impreza sedan offers 12.3 cubic feet of cargo space and the hatchback offers 20.8 cubic feet of cargo space with 60/40 folding seats to offer 55.3 cubic feet of maximum space. The Corolla offers 13 cubic feet of trunk space. And for your passengers the both Impreza's offer 100 cubic feet with 36.5 inches of leg room in the rear.

The Honda Civic is a tough competitor for the Subaru Impreza but the Impreza can hold its own.

Performance & Versatility

You wouldn't buy a car if it wasn't fun to drive right? The Subaru Impreza is always a fun filled adventure every time you get behind the wheel. Part of the Impreza's impressive driving quality is due to the design of its engine. The Subaru BOXER engine is unique in that is its pistons move side to side instead of up and down like the Honda Civic. By having the pistons move from side to side they cancel out each other's vibrations for a smooth ride. The horizontal layout of the engine also provides better balance while delivering a maximum transfer of power. Another thing that the Impreza has to offer that separates it from the Honda Civic is its two body styles. You can choose either a 4-door sedan or a 5-door hatchback Impreza. While the Honda Civic has many different trims and variations to choose from, they are all 4-door sedans.

Advanced Safety

When it comes to safety the Impreza offers Subaru's award winning EyeSight Technology and more overall protection than the Honda Civic. Subaru EyeSight Technology is a collective suite of advanced safety features that is made up of Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. Honda Sensing shares some of the same features as Subaru EyeSight but not all. Also, Honda Sensing is not as available as EyeSight. To get all of the Honda Sensing features you have to get the most expensive trim level or add individual features to the Honda trim you're interested in. Subaru EyeSight is available on three of the four trim levels on the Impreza as one complete safety package.
